De Barones, the beating heart of Breda, underwent a major refurbishment in 2016 and 2017 to the design of Rijnboutt. From a relatively introvert shopping centre, it has been transformed into an open, inviting shopping street, interwoven with the historic city centre. Large retail units, high facades, lots of glass, inviting entrances; the interventions reinforce the original allure and appeal of the Barones to both tenants and consumers. The Barones offers a nice brand mix of shops from both large national chains and local entrepreneurs, with a stylish, award-winning coffee bar in the heart of the centre as a resting point.
Shopping centre Hilvertshof is an indoor shopping centre in the heart of Hilversum. Between 2015 and 2017, the shopping centre underwent a major refurbishment designed by architect Rijnboutt. Light, air and space are the most important changes. Harsh square shapes have made way for round shapes with a lot of glass. A number of floors have also been broken open, creating height and light. Besides a number of large tenants, Hilvertshof offers a nice combination of national chains and local entrepreneurs.
Behind the Royal Palace on Dam Square is a shopping centre that has the allure of a Rijksmuseum, the Royal Concert Hall and PC Hooftstraat. It is Magna Plaza, located in one of Amsterdam's most beautiful monumental buildings that, complete in neo-Gothic architectural style, was completed at the end of the 19th century as the main post office and transformed into a shopping centre in 1992. The shopping centre is on the walking route from Dam Square to Nine Streets on the Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal.
For years, Osdorpplein has been the lively centre of Amsterdam Nieuw-West and one of the best hotspots in Amsterdam. The area is undergoing rapid development. A vibrant city centre is being built where living, working, shopping and entertainment are central. The modern centre is easily accessible.
The Kalverpassage, formerly known as the Kalvertoren, is a shopping area in the centre of Amsterdam. A drastic renovation between 2016 and 2018 has given the Kalverpassage more allure with much more light and transparency. Thanks to the materials used and its open character, the new Kalverpassage is one with its surroundings and visitors from the Kalverstraat and Heiligeweg will walk through the new shopping arcade as if by themselves.
